Unix time in one paragraph
Unix time counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 00:00:00 UTC. Many APIs and databases use it because it is a single number with no time zone attached. JavaScript and Java use milliseconds instead, which is why a current timestamp has 13 digits there and 10 digits elsewhere.
How input is read
- A number with up to 11 digits is treated as seconds, longer numbers as milliseconds.
- Anything else is parsed as a date, for example
2026-11-06T12:00:00Zor6 Nov 2026 14:30. - A date without a time zone offset is read in your local time.
Privacy
Conversion uses the browser's own date and Intl support. Nothing is uploaded.
